I love this period yet fashion forward vintage illustration by Paul Rogers. Art Director Jane Meier-Roberts at German GQ called upon Paul Rogers to illustrate the opener for a vintage ski fashion shoot along with a headline treatment. The tag line is Feste Bindung, a double meaning in German, both tight bindings and a close attachment.

Jana was after the right mood and always wanted to hire Paul ever since she saw his work in Wired, about high speed rail projects in California. It’s a wonderful surprise to see what Paul come up with, especially when he thinks the best way to communicate a visual idea is to send a finished piece of art.  Paul utilizes an extensive reference library, loads of experience and his uncanny ability to know better what the art director is after than they sometimes know themselves. A lot of folks want a vintage look, but they don’t want something tired and worn-out. Paul brings a contemporary and crisp visual language to well-known design styles.
